Confidence and Parents Texting

Random thought:
My whole life people have been telling me..."you need more confidence," and "don't let people take advantage of you." The fact is, the second I start voicing my opinion and/or start standing up for myself - I sense that people think that I'm being difficult or just humoring me.

I don't want to annoy people. I want people to WANT to be around me, and people like to be around people that make them feel superior. Right? If being the generous dumb one buys me some friends, count me in. That's it.

Oh, and this is my new favorite website: http://www.whenparentstext.com/

AHS Auditions - 1994

Just when you forget about your awkward years, a friend figures out how to upload VHS tapes onto YouTube. This is a blast from the past, and so sweet of my friend Tara to put together for us.

I'm at timestamps 2:45 5:29 and 6:45...hilarious.

Alt Report Pokes Fun...At Me! :)

Here's the thing...I'm 30 years old. If Hipster Runoff (and/or) affiliates are posting me - I must have some value entertainment - wise. Or maybe it's Rambo.

Thanks to Nashville's finest video man, for letting me know: Seth Graves.

Carson's Project

Our friend Carson created this amazing table for ReTune Nashville, which is an organization dedicated to turning instruments damaged in the flood into beatiful pieces of art. The pieces will be sold at an auction/concert with some huge Country names performing. The auction is to benefit those that lost their equipment and did not have the insurance to cover it.

According to Carson, the guitar belonged to a lady that is a writer here, who just fought cancer, and then lost her gear.

A Most Beautiful Song

I'm sure you've all heard this song already, but if not - it's the most beautiful song I've heard in a while. Besides dealing with such a hard topic so elegantly, this band does the modern Country format to perfection. Not too pop, not too corny.

I love the earthy 60s tone in their style, and the chick's voice is so precious and different. I used to always love the sound of my singing voice upon recovering from Laryngitis. It was a little rough and gritty. Kimberly Perry was blessed with this natural quality. Not to mention, singing with siblings always makes for the best harmonies. I'm a big fan of The Band Perry.

While Stalking My BFF on Facebook...

I came across this photo of her and her husband, and died laughing. It's like 2 years old, and I've never seen it. It must be from Halloween, as they always show up in the best costumes. Had to share. Huge xoxos to Colleen and Mark!

Apparently, I Love Ronnie Dunn!

Robin took me as her date to see the final farewell show of Brooks & Dunn Last Rodeo. Little did she know that I would scare the Program Directors' child and try to kidnap Ronnie Dunn. Way to make an impression on the big wigs, Chrystal! Just had to share. What a fun night! xoxo's to my rockin' Robin!

Turning 30

Today, I am 30 years old! I was talking to a co-worker about how I've been stressing about this milestone, and he wrote me this beat poem. :) Tom Peace is the best! Made my day!

"insert your favorite track for beat poetry here.

what is age,
but life's next stage...
your friends are younger,
for that you hunger?
you may be older,
your life gets bolder...
the party's not over,
life's just begun
don't let anyone,
tell you it's done.
30 doesn't mean you transform,
don't conform to society's norm..."

- Tom Peace Program Director WLAC-AM

I've received so many birthday wishes, and calls. My dad's was the sweetest ever. I feel so loved, and am so thankful for all the friends I've made, and the experiences I've had in my 3 decades on this Earth. Cheers and hopes for another eventful 30 years :)

Here's a couple of pics from the City of Hope softball game last night:

Nashville Flood

As you've probably heard, Nashville had massive rainfall this weekend which caused intense flooding. Last I heard, the statewide death count was 19 and many people have been evacuated from their homes. Very sad.

Luckily, Guy and I weren't affected. The stations I work with are holding a big telethon today to raise money, and the community is really coming together to help each other out.

Check out pics and videos at www.tennessean.com and www.nashvilleflood.net

I read an article today that brought to mind all the music lovers that have lost their collection of valuable instruments and equipment - essential tools of their careers. I also read that all the marine life in the Aquarium restaurant in the Opry Mills mall have perished.

It's freaky stuff. Say some prayers.

This is funny! Big D and Bubba have been letting me sit in on some interviews with my camera. Dierks was in the other day, and gave the guys a tour of his truck.

Badder Romance

I can't stop thinking about this fan vid. I hope these kids get jobs out of this. It's really well done, and with Flip cams!

I am actually very pleased with Flip again. Sure, their cameras failed on me twice, but they replaced them both. I will consider buying Flip again. I do love my new Kodak Zi8 though.

Oh, check out this pic of me and Love and Theft. They are cute. ;)

New Year Prep

First off - My father had a check up, and the active cancer cells are gone. He still needs to go for chemo regularly for maintenance, but we can handle that. As long as it stays away! :) What a beautiful way to start the New Year. Thank you God!

My mother-in-law emailed this out yesterday. Some 2010 prep:

HANDBOOK 2010

Health:
1. Drink plenty of water.
2. Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a beggar.
3. Eat more foods that grow on trees and plants and eat less food that is manufactured in plants..
4. Live with the 3 E's -- Energy, Enthusiasm and Empathy
5. Make time to pray.
6. Play more games
7. Read more books than you did in 2009 .
8. Sit in silence for at least 10 minutes each day
9. Sleep for 7 hours.
10. Take a 10-30 minutes walk daily. And while you walk, smile.

Personality:
11. Don't compare your life to others. You have no idea what their journey is all about.
12. Don't have negative thoughts or things you cannot control. Instead invest your energy in the positive present moment.
13. Don't over do. Keep your limits..
14. Don't take yourself so seriously. No one else does.
15. Don't waste your precious energy on gossip.
16. Dream more while you are awake
17. Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need..
18. Forget issues of the past. Don't remind your partner with His/her mistakes of the past. That will ruin your present happiness.
19. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone. Don't hate others.
20. Make peace with your past so it won't spoil the present.
21. No one is in charge of your happiness except you.
22. Realize that life is a school and you are here to learn. Problems are simply part of the curriculum that appear and fade away like algebra class but the lessons you learn will last a lifetime.
23. Smile and laugh more.
24. You don't have to win every argument. Agree to disagree...

Society:
25. Call your family often.
26. Each day give something good to others.
27. Forgive everyone for everything.
28. Spend time w/ people over the age of 70 & under the age of 6.
29. Try to make at least three people smile each day.
30. What other people think of you is none of your business.
31. Your job won't take care of you when you are sick. Your friends will. Stay in touch.

Life:
32. Do the right thing!
33. Get rid of anything that isn't useful, beautiful or joyful.
34. GOD heals everything.
35. However good or bad a situation is, it will change..
36. No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up.
37. The best is yet to come..
38. When you awake alive in the morning, thank GOD for it.
39. Your Inner most is always happy. So, be happy.
